Chocolate time & DIY

So this week has been a quiet one, the weekend however has been a bit busy. Yesterday I went to Ikea with my sister Sam, Amy and Martin. We spent pretty much all day there and walked nearly 5 miles, I know this from my pedometer on my phone, although it felt like 10 miles! I purchased a few bits and pieces to finish off my second bedroom/office. Mainly photo frames and shelves but I'll show you these another time.

Today is a big day for me! 40 days ago i gave up chocolate for lent...kind of. I am not a religious person but i decided to give it a go and see if I could do it and I did although I know lent doesn't officially finish until Thursday I think 40 days is long enough! The husband even said he would buy me a Pandora ring if I could do it so I will be going to pick one out next weekend.

This evening I tucked into an Easter egg, that Amy brought round for me earlier today, and a glass of proseco to mark the occasion (Not that I need an occasion to have a glass of wine but they do go together nicely!)

So I also got a bit crafty this weekend. When we went to Thetford forest a few weeks ago I brought back some pine cones and decided to use them as a bit of a centre piece for my coffee table. I used a bit of silver spray paint and put them in a basket I got from Ikea along with a candle from Tesco. Which smells amazing by the way!

I have struggled to find any curtains I like to put up in my second bedroom so I decided to buy some material and have a go at making my own. Easier said than done! These are still a work in progress. So with the same material I decided to cover some cork boards and make some pin boards for my desk area.

They only took 5 minutes to make as the cork boards I purchased from The Range already had sticky backs so no gluing necessary. I will eventually put them on the wall but for now I have them resting on the desk with a few reminders, pictures and tickets from some of the fun times I've had over the years.

It's all about the Accessories

So lately I have purchased a few items that I absolutely love so I thought I would share them with you. I know I normally write about what I have been up to but I thought I would mix it up a little.
I recently read a quote that really made me think more about my apperance..."Every Day is a fashion show and the world is your runway."- Coco Chanel.
Now normally I'm not a quote kind of person but I like this as it made me think about my style and how looking good can make you feel confident.

Firstly my haircare. I have experimented with a lot of blonde shampoo's and never really found one I have stuck with for long until now. This one is great, Bleach London Silver Shampoo. You only need to leave it on for a few minutes, too long and you will go a bit blue! I know it happened to me. I looked like a smurf!

I have recently started wearing lipstick. I never used to wear much apart from a bit of Vaseline but I am really liking the pink or red lips with the blonde hair combo. I got this Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet at the weekend. It's in the colour 10-Don't pink of it. I like it as it very subtle and is in a Matte finish which is great as I'm not a fan of the gloss.

I have also been wearing a lot of the Primark earrings lately. I always manage to lose just 1 earring so I tend not to spend a lot of money of them, so Primark is the best place to get some great designs and a pack only costs a few pounds. These are my favourite pair at the moment. So Cute!

And lastly I am loving pretty much everything from H&M at the moment. I really have to restrain myself when I go in there. I purchased this Jacket a few months ago which I wear to work and this cute pair of boots that were 50% off from F&F in Tesco. Bargain!

So this is a little glimpse into my shopping addiction and style. I hope you liked it.

To the moon and back

This week has not been your average week for me. For starters I went to watch the husband play football, which is something I NEVER do but as he was in a cup final I thought I would go and show my support. Stilton United won 2-1 against Brampton in the Hunts County Cup. Winning at football = very happy husband!

I also witnessed the Solar Eclipse this week. It was a bit cloudy but I managed to get a few pics from my office window.

As you know I take a lot of photo's so this week I decided to get a load printed as photobox had an offer on. I rarely print any of my photo's so it was nice to look through them and reminisce all the fun times I've had over the years. I got 150 printed so now I just need to decide which ones to frame.

And lastly I went to Rutland today with the bestie Amy for a nice country walk around Rutland Waters. We only managed about 3 miles as it was so cold and windy but we re-grouped with a little spot of afternoon tea at my wedding venue Barnsdale Lodge. Was so nice going back there as I have such lovely memories and the place still looks great.
Nice to see the hippos were still there too!

If you go down to the woods today...

This weekend has been a good one. We spent a long weekend with friends in Thetford Forest. The weather was good and the company was too. We also took the dogs so went on lot's of forest walks. The cabin we stayed in was lovely and modern but also very cosy and had a hot tub on the decking. As usual I took a few photo's and by a few I mean nearly 200! lol! But don't worry I won't post them all. Here's a few of my favourites...

I love this photo. Managed to get both the dogs looking forward with the camera balanced on a tree stump. Surprisingly it only took 3 takes to get this picture which is good going as the dogs were not keen on posing for pictures. This photo was taken remotely using my mobile rather than a timer which is a great feature on my Samsung NX3000 Camera.

Another lovely photo, taken by my fellow photo enthusiast Lucie. This was taken on one of the many walks we did over the weekend and I might get this one blown up and put in my living room.

I like this photo of Dexter, I think it's a little 'Arty' and you can just seen Reggie (the little black dot next to Dexter's left ear!) in the background. It took 2 days of alot of peeing up curtains and following each other around but by Sunday evening they relaxed. Although it could of been down to the 7 miles we walked to wear them out!

Talking of wearing out...this little fella has been sleeping since we got home today. He hasn't even woken up for any dinner, which is not like him at all! I think it's safe to say that he had a lovely time.

Us humans also had a lovely time. There were competative board games played and lot's of food eaten and drink drunk, all in all a great time was had.

16 Years and counting

There is a saying that opposites attract but I don't think I completely agree. I have known Amy (the Bestie) for over 16 years now and we bonded over our similar taste in well everything to the point where we have actually turned up in the same clothes. We couldn't be more alike with our taste in clothes, all things shabby chic and of course Wine. I have had a lot of good times with this girl over the years so I thought I would share a few memories of these times.

Amy has always been there through the good and bad, she even found us a last minute wedding venue. Long Story! I don't think we have gone longer than a week without speaking over the last 16 years and we have had a lot of fun times. This selfie was taken at our friends wedding at the cathedral last year. This was a lovely Sunny day and great day with all the girlie's.

Last year was a good one, we went to a few gigs, Ellie Goulding and Ed Sheeran who are two of my favourite artists at the moment.
This one was at V fest about 3 years ago after a very sleepless night in the most uncomfortable tent ever! Let's just say I'm in no rush to go camping again any time soon, but I am thinking about going to another festival this year.

And more recently a random night out in town which started with just two friends going for a quiet dinner and a few bottles of proseco later we were on a boat dancing away to a random band.

We have shared many interests over the years, such as Harry Potter, R Pats, The Great British Bake off and a love for afternoon tea but our ultimate goal is to one day be like Jules and Ellie from Cougar town. I think we are already half way there with the amount of wine we consume. lol!

Bunting & Brunch

This Weekend has been a busy one... I went on a monster bike ride yesterday with my sister which turned into a little bit of a disaster as we ended up off-roading it with head on wind which  led to a puncture and a 3 mile walk home but I'm hurting today so at least I got a work out from it and some lovely pictures too of course!

I also got a bit creative yesterday and decided to make some bunting. I made a few of these last year as some of my friends had babies and I gave some as Xmas gifts. The wooden triangles and letters I purchased from Ebay, I had a tester pot of paint left over from decorating and got some material from the local market.

 And the finished result...

Cute eh? I made a few so I am going to put them on Ebay and see how they do. So that was yesterday.
Today, I spent a few hours with the best bunch of girls I know. My Besties! Dani, Beckie and Amy. We had a spot of Brunch and did a bit of shopping. We don't get to spend enough time together for my liking but when we do it's just the same as if we were 16 again! I couldn't ask for better friends.

I plan on spending the rest of my Sunday on the sofa avoiding housework just as Sunday's should be spent.

Say Cheese!

So for Christmas this year Santa brought me a new camera, a Samsung NX3000. Now I am a complete novice when is comes to cameras but this camera is very user friendly and I can easily link it to my Samsung phone. It helps that it is pretty good looking too. I love all things that have that vintage style so this camera really stood out to me.

Now to the complete dismay of my family and friends, especially my husband, I insist on now taking photos whenever possible. Whether it's a lovely sunset, an evening in with the girls, a wintery walk with J and Reg or just a yummy looking plate of food. I love taking photos of moments like this as they are nice to look back on and remind me of good times.

Here are just a few of those good times...

This is one of the very first pictures I took with my new camera. Our HUGE Christmas tree. It's a good job we hadn't fully furnished the living room yet as it might not of fit. It was so big we had to chop quite a lot off to get it in but I loved it.

This next picture is not so flattering for me but I am one of those people that really struggles to like any photos of myself but I like this one as everyone is smiling & quite drunk. This was a New Years Eve Party at the White's house. Lot's of drinks, good curry and great company what more can you ask for to celebrate the start of a new year. Note to self, must buy a selfie stick, would of made taking this picture a lot easier!

And Lastly this is a beautiful sunrise from a very cold wintery morning in Jan. As much as I can not wait for summer to hurry up and get here I will miss being up in time to see these.

Me...

Hi I'm Sarah. This Blog is exactly what it says on the tin..My Happiness Project. I will be posting anything that makes me happy, what I get up to and anything cute I buy or see along the way so I hope you like photos as I take a lot!

I decided to do the #100DaysofHappiness on twitter this year to help me think of something positive every day as sometimes you need to be reminded about all the things you have in your life that make you happy because work and life can get in the way. This blog is an extension to that, so this is me...

Here are a few of the things that make me happy. My lovely Husband Jason...

We have been together 10 years this year and 2 years ago we added to our family with my best buddy Reggie aka 'tazmanian devil' he is a 2 year old black pug...

I know it looks like butter wouldn't melt but this guy is a little monkey!

Well that's all from me for my first blog but I will post again soon.
