50 Shades of Silver

Anyone that knows me (especially my hairdresser) knows that I get bored with my hair really quickly so I am always changing it but as it has taken me about 3 years to grow it I decided to change the colour this time. Nothing too drastic but as it is all the fashion I thought I would try a nice grey/silver colour.
I always use good shampoo for blondes as it really helps to keep the tones from going yellowy. Normally I use the Bleach London silver shampoo but my hairdresser recommended a new one recently Maria Nila. I have only used the Sheer Silver shampoo and the Pearl Silver colour refresh a few times but I really like them, they have helped keep the subtle silver tones throughout my hair.

 And this is the result...

I know it looks more white than silver in this picture but in the light you can really see the silver tones.

I have also been trying out some teeth whitening strips that I got from Boots. My teeth are ok but from the ridiculous amounts of caffeine I have on a daily basis I thought it couldn't hurt to try and whiten them up a little. I have only been using these for a few days so the jury is still out but I hope they do work as I don't fancy a trip to the hygienist. I'm not a fan of the dentist!

As part of my shopping addiction I also have a thing for throws. I am always cold and I believe that a bed or sofa just doesn't look right unless it has at least one throw on it! lol! I have quite a few now and the most recent ones I got from QD. I like the knitted throws as I think they make the place look really cosy and homely.

Row Row Row your boat

Today me and the husband went to Cambridge for the day. Rather than do the usual shopping route we went for some lunch at the Anchor then walked round the punting lakes. It was very hard to just walk past Zara but today was just to have a mooch around and spend some time together.

We met this little fella a the side of the lake too...

J doesn't mind me taking my camera with me and being a tourist most of the time until i say one word to him...Selfie! He has this thing where he likes to pull faces so I can't get a nice picture of us.
This was the best of the bunch today! I decided if you can't beat him, join him! lol!

Cambridge is so well kept and such a pretty city, (that might partly be down to not being aloud to walk on the grass lol!) but there were so many lovely blossom trees about I thought I would share one with you.

I also went to the cinema this weekend to see the new Avengers movie. I have watched a lot of superhero movies over the last few years (not through choice) and this one I must say was pretty good. There was a lot more comedy in this one which I like and Chris Hemsworth is in it so it can't be all bad!
We all look super serious in this picture but it was nearly 10pm so we were pretty tired and I don't think the angle helps!

I missed out on seeing lot's of babies today but earlier on in the week we went to visit the gorgeous little Esme Herriot. Obviously I had to have a cuddle. So cute!

I think that's probably enough pictures for one blog post so I think I'll leave it here.

Thanks for reading. Will post again soon S x

To be or Not to be...

When I first decided I was going to write a blog I did a bit of research into how to start and alot of the articles I read said to write about things that you know such as hobbies or things you are interested in. Find your niche and stick to it!

I have been blogging for nearly 2 months now and in the begining I couldn't decide what in particular I was going to write about so I decided to just write and see what happens. The name of my blog came about from the #100Daysofhappiness I had started to do on twitter. I don't do New Years resolutions as I never normally stick to them but this year I decided to do the #100Daysofhappiness to make me think of positive things every day. I extended this into a blog and rather than write about one particular thing I would write about all the things that made me happy along with some photo's I have taken along the way.

I have been posting all sorts of things from what beauty products I am using and cute things I have been buying to what I have been up to and I think I am going to continue down this path. When I started I never put much thought into who would read it. I share this blog on my twitter page mainly and thought that maybe a few of my 60 followers might have a glance every once and a while but when I checked earlier today I had nearly 800 views!

Now I never started the blog thinking that many people would want to read it but it's a nice thought to know that people are taking the time to have a gander at what I'm chatting about. I also thought this would be a nice thing to look back on a bit like a diary! lol!

Anyways I won't ramble on too much, I was just thinking about this today and thought I would write about it.

Thanks for reading. Will post again soon S x

It's Show Time!

Today has mainly been looking through the hundreds of photo's I have taken over the years. Which got me reminiscing about all the fun times I have had, especially in the last few years. I have been to quite a few weddings, hen party's, gigs, shows and fun days out so today I thought I would share some of them with you.

Nowadays it takes alot of planning to be able to arrange to meet up with the girls as there are quite a few of us and life tends to get in the way but one of the things we did manage to arrange a few years ago was a trip to London to see Matilda the Musical. It brought back so many childhood memories and was just a really nice day out.

A month later I was also lucky enough to go and see the Nutcracker with one of the besties Dani. I had never been to the ballet before so very exciting for me! I would definitely recommend anyone goes to see this it was such a beautiful show.

More recently I went to see Ellie Goulding at the O2 Arena. This was a belated Bday pressie from the hubby but as he is not really a fan Amy came with me. We ended up driving down there and made a bit of a road trip out of it. Although it was a Sunday night and the drive home was a long one it was still a great gig!

Me, Amy and my sister also went to see Ed Sheeran in Nottingham. I LOVE Ed Sheeran and he is probably the only artist I hadn't managed to see yet so I was well chuffed when Amy got these tickets. We were in seating but Nottingham isn't a big arena so we were still quite close.

And Lastly I went to London in Jan to watch The Lion King with my mum and sister. It was a present for my sister's 30th and as it was close to mum's birthday so we made a day of it and went for mad hatter's afternoon tea at the Sanderson Hotel before the show.

Well I won't go on any more I just wanted to share some of the fun things I have done over the last few years. I have lot's more planned to do in the next few years too...so stay tuned!

All things Shabby Chic and Cake!

If you know me then you will be aware of my love of all things Shabby Chic. I like to shop so over the years I have purchased quite a few cute house things so I thought I would share some of my shabby chic buys with you, some of which I may have purchased today. woops!

This Jug is from Next. I got this about a year ago ready for our new home for all the lovely flowers my husband was going to buy me but I got bored of waiting and decided to get some fake flowers from Ikea.  Lol!
Beautiful in Every way...

I went into town today and I stopped off at Wilkinsons to get some dog treats for Reg and had a little look around the homeware area and came across these drinking jars. They were so cute and only £1 each so I had to get them. I also picked a few up for the Bestie as I knew she would love them for her new home.

While I was in town I also had a little browse in Primark (It would be rude not to have a quick look) where I picked up this gorgeous make up bag.

This make up bag will live in the third bedroom which is mainly my walk in wardrobe where I get ready every day. I love this room although it's not quite finished yet. I have a few blank walls I need to decide what to do with but there are plenty of cute bits in the room already. Here is one of the candles I had left over from my wedding and what I believe is a perfume bottle but I just use it for decoration on my dressing table.

And last of all I just wanted to show you the awesome cake that I made today. I don't bake very often but we are having dinner and games night at our friends tomorrow so I thought now was a good time to get my bake on. I also may have bragged about making a showstopper so I had to put the effort in.
This is my version of an Oreo Cake. I hope it tastes as good as it looks! We will find out tomorrow...

Treasure Hunting & Beauty Buys.

So...Since we got Netflicks about 2 months ago I have done nothing but sit in front of the TV and what series after series. I managed to finish all six seasons of Gossip Girls in a month so I decided to take a little break from TV and start finishing some of the many books I have purchased over the years and as it was rather sunny on Saturday I sat out in the garden with Reg and read a few chapters of The Other Boleyn Girl by Phillippa Gregory. I have been reading this book for what feels like years (but it's actually only been a few months), Since watching The White Queen, Tudors and Wolf Hall I have really gotten into the Tudors history. This is a new thing for me as I usually like more fantasy than fact although I am aware these TV programs have been dramatised I sill find it all very interesting.

The week began with a new random app...my friend Claire aka 'the boss lady' told us about this app called Geo Caching. It's not a new thing it's been around for a long time. Basically there are all these random boxes hidden all over the country/world that you can find like a treasure hunt but without the gold! So we checked it to see if there were any hidden around the area we work and there were 2. So naturally we went looking for them. The app guides you to them and gives you hints of what you are looking for. There was nothing exciting in them but it does make you feel like a kid again. It's a little bit of fun you can do on a nice sunny afternoon. You will be surprised how many there are that you may have walked by every day!

I have also been trying out some new make-up this week. I don't know about you but when I get stressed or anxious it shows on my face. I have always suffered from bad skin but it has been a little worse lately. I'm sure the copious amount of chocolate I have been eating hasn't helped either though! The Bestie has recommended Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation that at first I wasn't sure on but after giving it a try I'm quite pleased with it. I'm quite pale so I'm really conscious of having the dreaded orange face but this blends in really well!

As it is spring time the pinks are coming out...I have also been wearing Maybelline New York 24hr Colour Tattoo eyeshadow in the colour 65-pink gold. I don't normally wear eyeshadow only a bit of eyeliner but this is a gel/cream eyeshadow, it stays on all day and is very subtle.

I have also recently started wearing lipstick. I purchased this one yesterday another one from the bourjois collection, Rouge Edition 39- Pretty in Nude. I love the colour of this it's very natural looking and doesn't feel too heavy on.

And finally here is a little selfie of me wearing all of these new gems...

Today was mainly a boring housework day but we ended up going for a few drinks with my Sister Sam and the bro in law to be Nino down at the new local. We have been here nearly a year now and this was the first time we have been down there, we had a few beers and played some pool. It was a very chilled afternoon.

Sorry I've gone on a bit today!

A walk in the park

This week I have mainly been eating Easter Eggs and almost any kind of chocolate I can get my hands on. After going 40 days without any I have definitely made up for lost time. The last 2 days I have even had Easter Egg for breakfast so I think it's time to have another break again.

This weekend has been pretty chilled. Lot's of housework has been done and exciting plans have been made. Which I will share with you later. Today has been a lovely day, we took Reg to Crown lakes before we went for a pub lunch. Reg seems to be a bit camera shy and makes it's really hard for me to get a nice picture of him as he doesn't stand still for a second! But today I manage to get one of him having a paddle in the lake.

And of course I had to take a selfie with the hubby. Although it's not the best as we are both a bit squinty.

This week I have also been trying out new face products. I have tried a few face packs and creams but nothing has stood out from the crowd. I have only just started using this Bare Minerals facial cleansing oil so the jury is still out but it makes my skin feel lovely so I will continue to use for a few weeks to see if it will help. I suffer from quite bad skin so putting oil on it would normal be a big 'no no' but I read that this product actually helps lift away dirt and makeup and moisturises the skin.

After having a nice soak in the tub I have planted myself on the sofa with a magazine and a cuppa tea to write this. Reg is a little tired from his long walk today and every evening we have cuddles before bed but tonight he was just so cute I had to take a picture.

Home Sweet Home

Today I thought I would share some of my home decor ideas and a few pretty things I have around the home. My shopping addiction also includes cute homeware bits. All rooms in my new home have now been decorated, I just have a few walls that are a bit bare but I am taking my time in deciding what to do with them.

One wall that I have finished is in my spare bedroom. I purchased this Wall Sticker off Ebay for something silly like £4 I wasn't sure what it would look like and I nearly didn't put it up but I'm glad I did now as I love it.

I also wanted to show you my make shift lamp in my bedroom. My husband likes complete darkness but I like to read before bed and as I have poor eyesight I need good  lighting to be able to see well anything! So this was our compromise.

I used a vase and put in some lovely heart and tear drop fairy lights from Not On The High Street. They are a lovely way to light up the room.

I am Also loving Primark bed sheets. They do some lovely cute and shabby chic sheets. These ones I love but unfortunately they don't quite match any of my room decors else I would be purchasing them tomorrow!

and you can't go to bed without some cute pajamas. I am always cold so I have throws and lots of layers on when I go to bed. Cute PJ's and Big fluffy socks are mostly what I wear! These ones you can also get from primark.

I Did buy some frames and shelves last weekend when I went to Ikea to put up on my yellow wall in the spare room. The shelves are now up but not the frames yet. I have way too many pictures I can't decide what to put in them. I didn't realise until I got home that I brought a lot of black things which makes a change for me as normally if it's not white or shabby chic looking I don't buy it but I am going for a more modern look in the spare room.

Thanks for reading. I will post again soon. S x
